Today we calculated the sum of the interior angles of several polygons and derived a formula (number sentence) to help us find the sum no matter how many sides a polygon has. This formula is (n - 2) times 180, with n being the number of sides of the polygon.

Unit Review Packet
The homework is review for the QUIZ we are having on WEDNESDAY this week. We will be reviewing concepts tomorrow in preparation for the quiz. Please plan to stay after school Tuesday, or come for extra help before school on Tuesday or Wednesday if you are having difficulty preparing for the quiz.
Concepts that will be on the quiz:
lines
angles
triangles (classifying)
polygons
symmetry
congruence and similarity
transformations, drawing shapes on the coordinate grid
three-dimensional figures, faces, edges, vertices

Prisms, pyramids and Euler's formula
Today we counted the number of faces, edges and vertices of prisms and pyramids, and checked our work with Euler's formula ( Vertices - Edges + Faces = 2 ).
E Block came up with a saying to help remember the formula: Visitors Empty food but add Fun. Hopefully that's helpful!
Homework:
Ws. Identifying 3-Dimensional shapes. Name each shape, then count the number of faces, edges and vertices in each one. Use Euler's formula to check your accuracy.

Transformations
Today we looked at different types of transformation on a grid. The top 3 websites on our list will take you to the different types of transformations we worked with today.
Homework:
ws. pg. 128: Only B block should do part C. C, E, F should complete parts A and B. Try part C if you would like.
There will NOT be a quiz tomorrow, since I was out a day this week, and there is a SCIENCE quiz tomorrow!!

Rotational symmetry
Today we corrected the illustrations we drew for our vocabulary packet and took a quick look at rotational symmetry. B block didn't have time to get to the lesson, so they do not have homework!!
We are going to have a quiz this Friday on lines, angles, and polygons. More information will come Wednesday in class.
Homework (except for B block):
